Alpha Phi Gamma emerged in the Fall of 1993 and became a reality on February 1, 1994, as the first Asian American Interest Sorority on the campus of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. The sorority was established to promote service and Asian Awareness to the University and to the community, while also bringing together women of different nationalities through the bonds of friendship and sisterhood.
Alpha Phi Gamma was established at San Diego State University on May 20th, 2000 and the sisters of Gamma chapter continue to strive to uphold the values and traditions of Alpha Phi Gamma in our campus communities and everyday lives. The national philanthropy of Alpha Phi Gamma is the Fight Against Violence Towards Women and Gamma Chapter seeks to bring continued awareness to this topic and provide resources for those in our community and beyond. Our organization also promotes scholarship and academic excellence for its members while fostering an environment for personal growth and leadership. As the sisterhood grows, both nationally and within our SDSU community, we continue to base our pride on being open to new ideas and the understanding of the lifestyle of an Asian American woman.
